Why we Believe In Regenerative Farming
And why we think you should too!
For decades, industrial agriculture has taken more from the land than it gives back. Synthetic fertilizers, chemical pesticides, and intensive tilling strip the soil of its vitality - creating a cycle of dependency that weakens ecosystems and reduces the nutritional quality of food over time.
There is a better way.
Regenerative farming works with nature instead of against it. It prioritizes soil health, biodiversity, and holistic land management. It restores the land's natural balance - capturing carbon, retaining water, and producing more nutrient-dense food. It's not just sustainable. It's restorative.
Uncompromising Quality | Unforgettable Flavor
Two generations of the Hoyle family have called Waverly on Chester farm home. Today, we're using that foundation to create something extraordinary: a direct connection between America's finest beef and passionate home cooks who demand excellence.
The Conversion of the Hoyle Family Farm
The Hoyle Family Farm, Waverly on Chester, is in the midst of a full transition to regenerative cattle farming - a process that takes time, care, and commitment. Until that transition is complete, Eric has chosen not to sell beef from the farm until our regenerative project is complete.
In the meantime, Old Line Prime has partnered exclusively with some of the country's finest regenerative farms, so we can deliver outstanding beef to your table today, without compromise.
When you choose Old Line Prime, you will be experiencing truly great beef and supporting Waverly on Chester's transformation.
What is the "Old Line"?
Many mistakenly associate Maryland's nickname "The Old Line State" with the Mason-Dixon Line, the boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania. However, the truth is quite different.
Maryland earned this nickname through the extraordinary courage, discipline, and professionalism of its colonial regiments during the Revolutionary War. Some even credit The Maryland Regiment with saving the American Revolution.
Learn about their heroic actions and why we proudly carry on this legacy.
General Questions
What makes Old Line Prime different from other premium beef companies?
Our beef comes from cattle that lived their entire lives on diverse pastures, creating complex flavors and superior nutrition that simply can't be replicated from commercial cattle operations.
Is there really a difference between pasture-raised beef and those raised on a feed lot?
Yes - there really is a difference, and it shows up in how the animals live, how the land is treated, and how the beef tastes.
- Pasture-raised beef comes from cattle that spend their lives grazing on grass in open fields. They move naturally, express normal herd behavior, and contribute to healthier soils through managed grazing. When done right, this approach improves pasture health, builds soil organic matter, and supports a more resilient ecosystem. The result is beef with a clean, rich flavor and a texture many people describe as more “real” and beef-forward.
- Feedlot-raised beef, on the other hand, typically comes from cattle confined to high-density pens and fed a grain-heavy diet designed to maximize rapid weight gain. While this system produces consistent results at scale, it relies heavily on imported feed, creates concentrated waste, and limits natural movement. The beef is often milder and fattier, but that uniformity comes at the expense of animal welfare and environmental impact.
At the end of the day, both systems produce beef - but pasture-raised beef reflects a fundamentally different philosophy: one that prioritizes animal well-being, land stewardship, and flavor over speed and volume.
If you care about how your food is raised - not just what’s on the plate - pasture-raised makes a meaningful difference.
Where is Old Line Prime located?
Old Line Prime operates from our founder's family farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Hoyle family farm, Waverly on Chester Farm, is located on the Chester River, between Centreville and Queenstown, Maryland.
Is all of your beef raised on Waverly on Chester?
No. Pease read the section above on "The Conversion of the Hoyle Family Farm" and "Follow Our Progress" under the "About Us" menu item.
Currently, Eric is transforming the family farm from one that followed Traditional Farming practices to one using Regenerative Farming practices. Until the farm and the beef he produces reaches the quality Eric obsesses about, he will not sell it as Old Line Prime beef.
In the meantime, Eric has sourced beef from some of the finest Regenerative Farms in the country. So, know that when you buy beef from Old Line Prime, you are getting exceptional quality beef AND helping in converting a farm to Regenerative Farming practices.
How long will the beef stay fresh?
Properly stored in your freezer, our vacuum-sealed beef will maintain peak quality for 2-years or more. In your refrigerator, it should be used within 3-5 days.
What if I'm not satisfied with my order?
If your order doesn't exceed every expectation, Eric will personally make it right. Full refund, replacement order, whatever it takes.
